MRP Labels for Flipkart Sellers

General guidance — always check Flipkart Seller Hub's current policies for your specific category, as marketplace requirements change independently of government rules.

Selling on Flipkart doesn't change the underlying Legal Metrology requirements for your product — it adds a marketplace layer on top. Two things typically need to line up:

1. The physical label on the product

This should carry the same core declarations any pre-packaged product needs in India: MRP, net quantity, manufacturer/packer/importer details, dates, and consumer care — see our MRP rules overview.

2. What you enter in your Flipkart listing

Flipkart's seller dashboard typically asks you to declare MRP, net quantity and similar fields directly in the listing, separately from your physical label. Keep these consistent — a listing MRP that doesn't match the printed label is a common cause of listing rejections or customer complaints.

Barcodes for Flipkart

Flipkart generally expects a scannable barcode (commonly EAN/UPC) on the product for inventory and fulfillment purposes, particularly for products going through Flipkart's fulfillment services. Generate and test your barcode before your first shipment — a barcode that fails to scan at the warehouse can delay your listing going live.

Check current policyMarketplace-specific labeling and barcode requirements are set by Flipkart and can change — confirm the current requirements in Flipkart Seller Hub for your category before shipping inventory.
